It's Final and Offical - We are a family!

Well this morning started off a little rough and scary. We were suppose meet our attorney at 7:45 am at the local courthouse. Now bear in mind it takes approximately 20 minutes or so to drive from our house to the courthouse.

Well our alarm did not go off. I set it but didn't turn it on. What time did we wake up you ask? 6:55 A.M.! Yes Patrick was still sound asleep. So I bolted to his room and stripped him down to his birthday suit and put on a new diaper while Matthew took a 2 minute shower. After Matthew jumped out of the shower he began feeding Patrick his bottle. I, on the other hand, washed my hair, blew it dry and put my clothes on. I then took over feeding Patrick his bottle while Matthew hurriedly put his suit on. Patrick finished up his breakfast and I put his outfit for court on. We were out of the house by 7:20. We made it to the courthouse where Matthew finished his tie (after shaving in the car along the way to the courthouse) and I put on my make-up. We made it with a few minutes to spare before 8. Our attorney laughed when I told him we had all been up less than an hour!

So the rest of the morning went smoothly. We went to the judge's chambers where he asked some simple questions and asked us to confirm that the information listed was correct. He signed off on the adoption decree and Patrick's name change.




So eventhough we all knew in our hearts that we were a family on April 27th, 2006, it is nice to know the law has recognized this as well! So our adoption journey has ended and our journey as a family continues on. Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers and support this past year. It has been a whirlwind of a year...but we wouldn't trade it for the world!
