Being the mother of a son, I try to remind myself boys will be boys. And this afternoon it is something I have kept repeating. For when I picked up Patrick this afternoon it was the only thing I could say when I saw him.....Yes, there is nothing wrong with your eyes! Patrick got his first shiner today at school. This morning Matthew and I brought Patrick to his new room. After a wonderful year in the nursery, it was time we all moved to the Creeper room. This was a lot harder on the parents than Patrick. Patrick ran gladfully over to one of the new toys in his new room and within 30 minutes fell vicitim. I got a call after just arriving to work letting me know that my son had a really bad diaper and that he had fallen on one of the toys while playing and has a bruise. After I hung up I contemplated why he was having a bad diaper (background, we were sent home early from school for having the maximum limit of bad diapers (3) and he stayed home on a bland diet and pedialyte yesterday.) Well after talking with a co-worker I gladfully discovered that raisans work the same way as prunes (are you getting the drift....). So I called and told him that I don't think anything is wrong that it was what he had for a snack. After hanging up, I called Matthew to tell him at 7:30 a.m. we were already one strike down and two to go. Luckily no more bad diapers and we made it through the day. We love his new room (and so does Patrick). He has a very structured day and seems to have fallen right into place.
So I am sure in the morning when I see that beautiful smiling face with a black and blue cheek, I will repeat - "Boys will be Boys!"

We are still getting used to the creeper room, too. (Well, Mommy is. Wesley is just fine!) The nursery was just so outstanding.
