So this week has been a busy one...but the highlight was when Patrick was awarded his tiger cub yellow belt Wednesday night. He was so excited! I am excited that it velcros in the back so I don't have to worry about tying it correctly each class!
Friday night was a first for Patrick. He was asked over by our neighbor's son, Jackson, to spend the night. Jackson is 6 and plays with Patrick all the time outside. His mom said that he could spend the night if it was OK with us. Now my heart just broke....is he really that grown up already? After talking it over with Matt, we agreed to let him go over. I mean it was two houses down and if he got scared he could come home. Well we didn't get a late night call and Matthew picked him up around 8 because we had taekwondo class at 9. JoAnna said that he didn't fall asleep till midnight (though Jackson was out at 10) because she felt he was probably scared but didn't want to say anything. She put on a movie for him and he fell asleep around midnight. If you ask Patrick - he had a blast. JoAnna said he was great and Jackson seemed to have had a great time too!
Saturday we attended a Big Brother/Big Sister class at the hospital where we will be delivering William. They have a nurse who show the kids pictures of how a newborn looks like, shows them the different things that they will be doing to their baby brother/sister (taking temperature, listening to heart beat, how their belly button will look, etc). They show them how to put a diaper on a baby, where the baby will sleep (nursery), what Mommy's room will look like before the baby is born and what it will look like afterwards. Patrick had a great time and was not shy at all. Here is the conversation that was had during the nurse showing pictures of newborn babies and different body parts.....
Nurse (showing a picture chart of a baby's ankle with a hosp bracelet) - "Opps, there is a baby's hiney without a diaper."
Patrick - "You aren't suppose to say Hiney! That's a bad word."
Nurse - "Sorry. There's a baby's booty without a diaper."
Patrick - "We aren't suppose to say that word either!"
Nurse - "What are we suppose to say that is....."
Patrick - "My mom said we are only supposed to call that our bottom."
And mother buries head as everyone finds comic relief in my son.....and the student nurses where his biggest fans! He was not shy to say the least...which I think helped the nurse out because none of the other kids (some even older than Patrick) were all about speaking up.
He walked away with his 'I'm a SUPER big brother shirt and button' to wear on his special day!
Hope everyone had a wonderful fall weekend!
