Many firsts...

Well I wanted to post this past Thursday, but the website was down and then I had to make a mad dash home because my mom had a medical scare (more on that later). But to get to the title of this post - Many Firsts...

On Wednesday (June 7, 2006) Patrick rolled over (from tummy to back) for the first time. I wasn't in the room to see this happen, however, it was quite comical. I had put him on his tummy in his crib while I went to put on my make-up. I turned his tummy monitor on and went to our bathroom across the house. Well after about 5 minutes I hear this bloody scream from the monitor. I run across the house and there is Patrick lying on his back with eyes as big as silver dollars and a death grip on the side of his crib. The look was priceless. It said "I don't know what I did, but I don't like it!". I calmed him quickly, put him back on his tummy and went back to my business. Not five minutes later, another scream across the monitor. I rush back to his room only to find him again on his back with the "I don't like this!" look and death grip on crib. So we have reached a milestone at 5 weeks 6 days! Go Patrick!

On Thursday (June 8, 2006), my mom called and said that she had not been feeling well. Long story short she had several different doctor visits last week and lots of tests. Conclusion, she needed a heart cath right away. So I packed quickly and headed home. It was another first for Patrick - his first road trip to mommy's hometown. Mom's heart cath was the next day (Friday) and everything turned out normal. She had no blockages and the heart muscle looked good. In short, she needs to slow down and rest!

On June 2, 2006, the Patrick McKenzie Party Season kicked off with a shower given by Matthew's co-workers. Patrick was the main attraction. There were tons of good food prepared with lots of loving care. The shower was so nice and Patrick received a lot of wonderful gifts. On June 3, 2006, close friends of mine gave Patrick a shower. He received a lot of cute gifts and some adorable clothes. Then while at home this weekend, my family and close friends got together to shower Patrick with gifts and love. He got a lot of clothes that he can't wait to wear and wonderful things to play with as he grows! (Thank you to everyone!) Next weekend, Matthew's close childhood friends are giving Patrick his final shower to close out the party season!

I would also like to mention that each day the mailman/UPS/FedEx man arrives it is like winning the lottery. Patrick has received a bunch of wonderful presents from our friends and family that are scattered about this wonderful country. I would like to extend an informal (don't worry the formals are coming in the mail) Thank you. There are no words that can begin to describe how much we appreciate your kindness.

Oh and the last "First" for this post. Patrick had his first "professional" pictures made. We went to Target in my hometown and had his 6 week pictures taken. They are adorable. He was wide awake for all of them, so we captured his beautiful blue eyes. As soon as I get them, I will scan one in and show everyone. Our little piglet is pushing 12 lbs according to my grandmother's scales.

Thanks for checking in....

Hello,
I found your blog through a link on someone else's, and really enjoyed reading Baby Patrick's story. He is such a little cutie! I loved his learning to roll over story too! God bless!
