I made the whirlwind tour to Baton Rouge and was able to see my Maw Maw Laura before she headed into surgery. They were planning on a quad bipass, but settle for a triple stating that the other was not a critical vein and there was no sense in putting her through more than she needed. She did have an issue with her heart not beating fast enough. Right now she is still recovering in ICU and they have an external pace maker helping her heart beat at a normal rate (70's). If she keeps up the good work she will be in a regular room on Saturday. They plan on taking her off the external pace maker on Monday and see if her heart can start picking up the pace on its own. If it can't then they will place an internal pace maker.
Thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. She isn't out of the woods yet, but she is starting to find her way out.
Oh, and to let you know her spirits are good...she was only worried about not losing her teeth (dentures) before the surgery. It's the little things in life!
We love you Maw Maw Laura - and Patrick is very glad that the doctor and great surgeon fixed your broken heart!
Love
