Family Day 2008

So exactly two years ago we all woke up late and barely made it to the courthouse on time. Click here for a trip down memory lane. Yes two years ago today we all met the Honorable Judge Grant at the courthouse along with our attorney and sealed the deal - the legal system officially deemed us a family of three! Matthew and I decided that we would celebrate each year by spending the whole day together. So we both take off from work and Patrick is given permission to skip school and we enjoy celebrating the day remembering our special angel who made it possible with the help of the good Lord above.

So last year we tried to decide what tradition we could start and repeat each year...so here they are...wake up early and eat breakfast at Primos (who serve the best cheese grits your mouth has ever tasted!) and finish the day with rides and dinner at our state fair (how convenient that the state fair always runs from Oct 1 - 12 each year!). We also try to find something fun and new to do in between. This year we attempted to visit the Planetarium - apparently it is only open during show times - note next year check the website before venturing downtown. So we circled back and as luck would have it Patrick's Parrain's meeting got canceled and he asked us to meet up for lunch. Naptime quickly followed and then we headed off to the State Fair! Now Patrick has been quite the picky eater today. Maybe it is because we are on antibiotics (bronchitis), Claritin, breathing treatments 3x day, and cough medicine, or maybe it is because he was holding out for tonight's dinner!A pronto pup - it was ok, but he preferred what his daddy was having and decided quickly, he MUST have some smoke turkey leg!

We did venture to the petting zoo and fed the animals some healthy carrots. He had a blast and kept saying "that tickled" when an animal would eat the carrot out of his hands.

We did ride some rides -

The VERY tall slide - three times. Dad made it down once, attempted a second, but Patrick wasn't having it. So Mom made it down once, then attempted try number two when Dad was unsuccessful. We got to the top and then I quickly explained "The only way back down is to slide." He was a little hesitant at first, but quickly was all about it and away we went. Boy that thing sure was FAST!Then we rode the Bumble Bee ride - he loved it!
Then it was the carrosel - "Mommy I want to ride the horse!"
Then we rode our very first roller coaster! He will have to find someone to ride the big kid version when he gets older! Amazingly - he loved it!
So all in all we had a great Family Day.
On a more serious note, please pray for my grandmother - Maw Maw Laura. She had a heart attack over the weekend and we found out today she has a 100% blockage in one artery and 99% blockage in the other three. She is having open heart surgery on Wednesday morning. I am going down Tuesday night to be with my family on Wednesday. All the prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Love
LeAnna, Matthew, and Patrick
