...and let me warn you...it isn't pretty!
So Friday he was a happy little piggy at daycare...no problems. Saturday he was just as happy as he could be...eating fine, no fussiness...just our wonderful little prince...then Saturday night rolled around...at 1:30 a.m. he woke up after only 5 or so hours of sleep (hint #1). So Matthew got up and fixed him a bottle, of which he downed in no time. So we put him back to bed, but he was screaming and hollering (hint#2). So I got up with him and walked the floor with him because this was the only way he would stop crying. So from 4 am till 7 am, Patrick and I slept sitting straight up on the couch. Matthew took over at 7. Throughout the day I noticed he wasn't himself and took his temp at 1 p.m. - 99.5 F. So I gave him some tyelnol and checked it again at 1:30 PM. It was now 100.5...still low grade (hint#3). I called the nurse and she said to come to the after hours clinic. We went at 5:30 pm (the earliest appt they had) and low and behold...it's not teething...both ears are infected. She asked if he had been sick....my reply "he had a clear runny nose at night, but he started that on our vacation in the moutains so I chalked it up to allergies/new environment." The dr followed with "How long has he had it?" I said "about 10 days." She then preceeds to tell me that a clear runny nose for 10+ days can lead to ear infections. Now let me clarify...if my child was sick, I would have taken him to the dr much earlier...but he had a clear runny nose...mostly at night/early morning, no fever, was eating great, and was the happiest thing in the world....so how was I to know that I should have gone to the dr!
So we got antibotics and ear drops for pain relief and headed home. Matthew stayed home with him today and things are looking like they are on the up hill swing....but let me just tell you it broke our hearts seeing him in such pain!
Oh, and little Patrick weighed in at at whoping 16 lbs! Told ya'll he was a ham!
Love ya

Poor little man! I've heard about ear infections and how miserable they can be. Betcha Daddy's "day off" wasn't ideal! I hope Patrick feels better soon (so ya'll can too)! :)
