Good news...

...everyone is still OK. Phone service (cell and land lines) seem to be coming back. Slowly but surely power is getting restored. My mom found out from word of mouth that their "home away from home" is still standing. Two of my family members have power now. My best friend Cathy and her four kids have no power or running water so they ventured north for a little mini vacation. They found out today it will be approximately 21 more days before they may have power. The good news is that we were able to locate a generator for her and she bought it to bring back with her next week. I am really enjoying spending time with them, just sad that it took a hurricane to do it.

My dad's department is part of the mass effort to restore the LSU campus to some sense of normalcy for the students return on Monday. He said in his 58 years of living in Baton Rouge he has never seen such damage. He said the campus was hit pretty hard.

Please continue to keep these folks in your prayers. They need all of them and more.

Thank you for checking in!

we are alright...our power was restored on Thursday; Jack's sister's power last night and his mother is still without and staying with us. Jack returned to work this morning as they regained power last night. As with Katrina, we will have to replace our privacy fence in the backyard; that, however, is minimal in comparison to many. We are blessed and thankful--and preparing for IKE!!!
