This Saturday we headed further down south to visit family for the holiday weekend.
Saturday we made it to my sister's house in time for lunch. We visited with my mom before heading off to visit a long time friend of mine who moved back to my hometown, Tish. Patrick and her son Grayson had such a great time playing with each other. It had been almost a year since we visited them in Dallas, but the boys didn't skip a beat. Patrick even showed Grayson how to work the water hose sprayer....they had a blast.
Sunday we woke up to a yummy breakfast of homemade french toast. My sister was so kind to let me sleep in and watch Patrick. He enjoyed the extra attention and the yummy breakfast as he put down three pieces of toast and a whole banana! We enjoyed a delicious lunch of homemade lasagna prepared by my wonderful brother in law, Russell. We got to visit with my dad, my grandmother and her husband, Maw Maw Laura and Papa John. Patrick loved visiting with everyone and all of the attention. Following lunch we headed over to visit my other grandmother and her husband, Maw Maw Dot and Mr. LJ aka Grammy and Pops. We had a great visit. Patrick enjoyed 'cooking' us a dinner and putting it in our lunch boxes. It is so much fun seeing him play out of the same cabinet full of plastic bowls and such as we did as a kid.
After visiting we headed over to my friend Tiffany and Kurt's place to visit for a while. Patrick loved playing with Logan and Wyatt. It was great that they get along so well. It makes it easier to have an adult conversation without having to stop and break up a fight over toys or constantly having to play referee! Tiffany and Kurt are going to soon be welcoming a baby girl to their home. We can't wait to go back down and visit after she arrives!
Did I mention I had a wonderful brother in law earlier? Well I do. Thirty minutes before the LSU vs WU game, I mentioned that no-bake cookies sure did sound good. So we both got up to see if we had all of the ingredients. We had everything but the oatmeal (which is quite key). So he said that if I ran to the store and got oatmeal he would cook a batch. Now let me say that my brother in law is a HUGE LSU fan...so for him to volunteer to cook out of sight from the TV is quite a sacrifice. After figuring out that real sugar cannot be substituted in this recipe, the third batch came out great. Now fast forward to Sunday night. I walked in and notice all of the cookies were gone. I said something about them all being gone and that I was so looking forward to having one. Little did I know he had already wrote down all the ingredients for the cookies so he could make a batch for me to split and take home on Monday.....I told you he was the best!
We are safely back home and trying to prepare for the upcoming short work/school week.
Happy Labor Day everyone!
