We are so very thankful today for all that we have. We have family, friends, and a forgiving Lord. We have a roof over our head; a pantry/refrigerator/freezer full of food; a warm bed to sleep at night; clothes and shoes with no holes; and jobs which provide it all.
We traveled south leaving a little earlier than expected as we had a death in our family which caused us to need to be home with our family a litter earlier. Mr. LJ, aka Pops, you will be greatly missed. The happiness you have brought our grandmother over the past three plus years can't be replaced. May you rest in more comfort in your forever home in the heavens above.
Amidst all of the sadness of the passing, we were able to gather around and enjoy the love of family and food today. We started the day off at my mom and step-father's home with a very scrumptious spread - fried turkey (yes we fry everything in the South), pork roast, corn bread dressing, sweet potato casserole topped with the yummy pecan and brown sugar topping, green bean casserole, homemade macaroni and cheese, and yummy southern pecan caramel cheesecake. After naps for the kiddos, scrambles through the HUGE inflatable obstacle course that my mom rented for the adults, um, I mean the grandkids, and some grand prix races in the battery operated cars, we headed back to my dad's home to help decorate the Christmas tree. Matthew took some fabulous pictures, which I will post in the upcoming days. For now, I leave you with this Thanksgiving song that Patrick has been singing over the past few weeks!
Hope everyone had a BLESSED and SAFE Thanksgiving!
