So this week is spring break for all of the schools in our area, including Patrick's. Now his school has all day after-care during this holidays so he was going to spend the week playing with all of his friends, that is until his Maw Maw called.
She called and wanted to know if Patrick could come on an adventure with her for a few nights. Since our brother-in-law already had plans to come on Saturday, he could catch a ride back. Matthew and I agreed that it would be a nice little break for us, and he would be able to spend sometime with my family in Louisiana. So on Wednesday evening we all drove to the halfway point, had dinner, and Patrick made his quick escape into Maw Maw's car. She called us once they got home and said they sang songs the whole way home (which is about an hour and half ride).
He called the next morning all excited about what the day had in store on his 'adventure'. They headed to town to pick up his Grammy (his great-grandmother) so that she could go with them for their errands and lunch. He enjoyed a yummy lunch with his Maw Maw and Grammy before heading to Harbor Freight to pick up some 'tools' so he could have his own set at his Papa's shop. This is a picture of him and all of his gear that my brother in law so graciously took to share with us.
He called his dad that afternoon and told him about his tools and that he got to ride on Maw Maw's 4-wheeler and it was HUGE! After a dinner time (which my mom discovered a new fact - he LOVES fold over jelly sandwiches - didn't know that but now have something to send on cold lunch days - thanks MOM!) they got ready for the night.
They called this morning after sleeping in and said they were heading to the Global Wildlife Center for the 12:15 tour. I just called to check in and they were getting a bite to eat.
As for Matthew and I....we are enjoying our time together. Since the weather was going to be nice, we decided to both take off from work today. We had a great romantic dinner last night and slept in till 9 this morning. I have gone and prepped the toes for flip flop weather and totally enjoyed not being rushed. We have taken a long bike ride this afternoon and enjoying the beautiful day we are having.
Though we miss our little man, Matt and I are enjoying our time together, while Patrick is enjoying all the attention he is getting from everyone in Louisiana. He has plans tonight to go with his Nana (my sister) and his cousins to jump till his heart is content at an inflatable indoor jumping place before heading to his Paw Paw's (my dad) to spend the night before returning home tomorrow.
So he has escaped the loving arms of his parents and is being spoiled and loved beyond measure in Louisiana. Words can't express how thankful we are to have family close enough for him to escape to and grandparents who are willing to give Mom and Dad a little mini vacation away from parentville!
Much love,
