On Friday, Matthew went and picked Patrick up from school. When he arrived he was greeted by a VERY EXCITED Patrick who was holding the famed Chirpy Chick! He was coming home with us for the weekend.
Now this is a big deal to Patrick and all of his classmates as 2 to 3 children are chosen by his teacher each week to bring a Chirpy Chick (not a real one) home for the weekend. The Chirpy Chick tags along with the family for the weekend and then the child returns Monday to tell all of his/her classmates what adventures the Chirpy Chick went on. This helps develop their skills in speaking in front of others.
So Chirpy Chick did just that this weekend, he went with us everywhere and we tried our best to show him a great time! Here is a collage of each of the day's events and adventures. We are printing these out so Patrick can bring them with him to help him talk about their great weekend together.
Friday was the famed Jackson Academy vs Jackson Prep football game. This year it was one of the featured Cellular South Y'all vs Us televised games. Before attending the game, both Patrick and Chirpy Chick caught a nap so they would have all of their energy to pull for the Raiders. We attended the pre-game tailgate festivities along with a mini-pep rally. While there Chirpy Chick ran into Miss Olivia, one of Patrick's classmates. We tried our best, but even Chirpy Chick couldn't help the Raiders beat the Patriots. Oh, well better luck next year Raiders!
Saturday morning, Chirpy Chick and Patrick got up early and attended Patrick's TaeKwonDo class. Chirpy Chick sat and watched Patrick perfect his high blocks, punches, and kicks before winning the game of dodge ball before class ended. After TaeKwonDo, they headed to the Halloween Store to pick out this year's costume. They decided on Super Man because he has all of the super powers.
Sunday morning was another early morning for both Chirpy Chick and Patrick. They attended Patrick's first religious education class where they learned the difference between being a good friend and a bad friend. They then joined us for Mass and enjoyed Children's Church. After Mass, both Chirpy Chick and Patrick headed home for lunch and a nap. Since both were great during Mass, Matthew promised them an afternoon movie, Alpha and Omega. Patrick enjoyed the movie and Chirpy Chick enjoyed the cool glasses he got to wear so he could see all of the 3D effects.
Thank you Chirpy Chick for coming to visit us! We hope you had fun and that you come to visit again real soon!
