We are here. We are alive. Barely! Seems you really do forget about the sleepless nights and the 'he's crying and you can't make it stop' moments. But we are doing great. We are settling in to some what of a routine and learning how to be parents to two precious miracles. Patrick is doing an AWESOME job as Big Brother. He is so gentle with William, but not over bearing. He is handling the divided attention, and is assisting when he can. Best of all - he sleeps right through all of the crying in the middle of the night...which there is plenty of mostly due to the fact that 1) William HATES to be dirty or wet 2) William HATES to have his diaper changed (HUGE conflict with fact #1) 3) Mom/Dad have not mastered how to keep the 'hose' from spraying which leads to 4) William HATES to have his clothes changed! So there is A LOT of crying in the middle of the night!
My mom was in town last week helping us out (which was a HUGE BLESSING! Thank you Mom!). On Friday, we took William to be weighed, and his umbilical cord (it had fallen off Wednesday night) and his circumcision looked over before the bitter cold weather arrived this week. The great news was that he had gained back four of the five ounces he had lost between the time he was born and the time we were discharged. They wanted him to gain back to at least his birth weight by his two week appointment with our pediatrician.
Well on Monday morning I noticed that his circumcision was healing but appeared that it might be infected. So today we went back to the hospital for it to be checked. I hated to get him out in the bitter cold, but did not want to take a chance with his wound. So off we go. The nurse and NeoNatal doctor both took a look and said it was not infected (thank goodness) and that it was some dried skin left over from the procedure that would fall off. The nurse weighed him while we were there to make sure he was still on track. Well folks, it looks like we have another healthy eater in our household. William weighed in at 6 lbs 10 ozs this morning! We have gained back our birth weight and then some all within a week and a half!
So we are here, we are alive....and we are as blessed as ever!
***More pictures will be coming soon! I am pretty sure we are going to have a mini photo shoot this weekend!***
