...so it is cold and there really isn't a whole lot to do with the kids that will allow them to expend some energy. Result - 2009 Motortrend Carshow and a date with Patrick's girlfriend, Mary Everett. Now let me provide some background.
Mary Everett attends school with Patrick. They started school at the same time and have been pretty inseparable since. Now Mary is the take charge leader of the girls and Patrick handles the boys...but some days watch out! The teachers joke and say that they must have been married in a past life, the couple married for 50+ years who have their 'love' days and 'hate' days, but all in all it is one of those relationships that everyone sits back and says "Awww...". Well that is Mary and Patrick. We joke and ask the teachers if it was a 'love' day or 'hate' day between the two. Due to the relationship between our children, we have become quite good friends with Mary's parents, Ward and Lee Anne (Trust me it is funny when we call and I say "Hey Lee Anne, It's LeAnna.) So we have play dates often and do things together outside of school. Infact, Mary's birthday is two weeks before Patrick's and this year we are having a joint birthday party.
So fast forward to this week. On Friday it was unseasonably warm (in the mid 70's), so Matthew takes off early and picks Patrick up from school to enjoy the afternoon with some ice cream and play time at the park. He calls up Ward and asks if they want to meet up since Ward was picking up Mary early. So together they had a wonderful afternoon filled with sliding and sand. Ward mentioned the car show and that is was going to be Kids Day on Sunday if we wanted to go. So we picked up some tickets from Kroger and decided we would join them since it was inside, warm, free, and we got to see some really cool cars from all multiple dealers under one roof. Mary even had her picture taken with Barbie. It was a lot of fun. Our friends Emily, John, and Patrick's bud Andrew joined us too. It was a lot of fun checking out the different makes and models of the 2009 cars and seeing some really old Corvettes. (Which are the ones that were hands off yet the kids couldn't grasp the concept that you couldn't cross the rope (or crawl under it either!)). We all took turns letting the kids 'pretend' like they were driving and the others along for the ride. Andrew even practiced his 'parade' wave in one of the two seaters while Mary drove and Patrick rode shot gun.
I think the most fun was seeing Patrick and Mary holding hands and taking turns sitting in the cars and pretending to drive each other around. After the car show we headed to lunch together before departing for nap time. It was really cute the whole time Mary and Patrick were inseparable...even at lunch they had to sit togehter. Here are a few pictures from their 'date' today!
Ladies, I think she has won his heart...and fellas watch out because Patrick is protective of his woman! LOL! Good thing is if this keeps up in the future, we will have some gorgeous grandchildren and the inlaws all get along!
Thank you to the Robinsons and the Provias family for all the fun!
Love
LeAnna, Matthew, and Patrick
