My mom says that typically on the first day of school teachers will ask their students to write about what they did on their summer vacation....well when I start school in a little over a week (more on that a little bit later), my mom suggests that I write about how I kept my mom and dad awake at night.
See it all started about the beginning of summer. As I was mastering the skill of peeing in a potty and not my bed or on myself, I would wake in the middle of the night...declare that I had to pee after maneuvering my way across the house to my mom and dad's room, take care of business, and then they would put me back to bed...where I would kindly go right back to sleep. And prior to this stage I would sleep 12 hours a night without a step out of my bed...but the beginning of summer brought about change. I now wake every 3 hours or so....and usually not because I need a bathroom break, but simply to let mom and dad know that I am awake...and put up a big ol' fight about going back to bed....and by night's end I win the battle and end up in their bed. SCORE one for me!
About one month ago my mom noticed that my ear was bleeding. After going to the doctor they noticed it was the result of a really bad ear infection that was probably the beginnings of the sleepless nights for all. Because I tolerate pain very well (too well sometimes) my mom and dad had no idea until it had gotten REALLY bad. Dr. Craig put me on some medicine and assured mom and dad that after a few nights we should be back to our routine of sleeping through the night. Fast forward three weeks and EVERYONE in our home is exhausted. So mom took me back to the doctor to see if it was my ears again. Nope. Dr. Joe (Dr. Craig was off today) said our diagnosis is BATTLE OF THE WILLS. Apparently this is a common stage for me and my peers...but mom and dad are not thrilled about reliving the days of my youth (aka - first 11 weeks of my life)....so Dr. Joe gave mom some pointers on how to win the fight...but I am one tough cookie so we shall see who is the victor!
As for school....yes your eyes are not deceiving you earlier...I start school on August 18th. My mom and dad have decided to enroll me in a PreK3 program at one of the local preparatory schools for PreK3 and PreK4. It was a very tough decision and one that was not made lightly. I am very excited. We went and got my uniforms and I found out my pal Lauren is going to be going with me. Look for my picture in the upcoming weeks of me all dressed up as a JA Raider and to see who won the battle of the wills - PMcK vs MOMandDAD!

Yes, we know all about the battle of wills. Mommy has to learn to be firm. We started taking away toys & privileges (and the "Toy Fairy" started paying visits each night). we also occasionally bribe w/ Swedish Fish (candy). If no one wakes mommy up all night, each girl gets a Swedish Fish at breakfast. Awful, I know, but it's not every day....they do respond well when I take away a favorite blankie or stuffed animal. Mostly it's just Abby who tests me. Izzy is usually very obedient!
