Today

Today Patrick fell asleep on the way home from school. He asked his dad for his blanket (that stays tucked in his school bag for nap time use). Matthew said as soon as he handed it to him, Patrick fell fast asleep. I went and carried him in as soon as Matthew pulled up, laid him down in our bed, took off his shoes and jacket, and left him asleep. Matthew and I enjoyed a quiet dinner and decided to wake him an hour and half later.

My son had the right idea. Sleep. Him falling fast asleep on the way home has captured my feelings of this week. It has been a LONG and TIRING week. I have had a sinus infection and that super annoying dry cough. You see super cold weather means that our heat is on much more, which is gas heat, which causes the air to be super dry, which then leads to super annoying sinus infection and dry cough. Everyone around here has it. So on top of not feeling good - all three of us - we had to deal with broken pipes in the capital city, which caused Matthew to be out of work for two days, and Patrick's school to be closed for two days. So all of that on top of feeling crummy, and cold weather....we are all just plain TIRED. So after waking up little man for dinner and some SuperMario Cart Wii racing with his daddy, I escaped to a super hot shower for 15 or so minutes. It wasn't the nice steam shower with 15 showerheads and a nice bench to sit on (Mom I am so locking myself in your new bathroom the next time we come down) but it was peaceful and relaxing and what I needed at the end of the week.

So I am about to follow in my son's footsteps...and to bed I go. Thank goodness we are all starting to feel better, the weather is warming up, and we have no major plans this weekend but to be glued to the TV come 3:30 tomorrow to cheer on our Saints - Who Dat!
