Good Friday is a Good Day indeed....IT'S A BOY!

Yes your eyes are not deceiving you. The last 24 hours have been a whirlwind. Quick update:

Got a call from UT yesterday. A birthmom (let's call her Jane for privacy purposes) saw our profile and decided out of all the profiles she saw that we were the ONLY family she wanted her information shared with. So our SW calls and provides us with her information. We said yes and a conference call was arranged. At this point Jane did not know what she was having. So today Matthew and I headed to Babies R Us to take care of some unfinished registering. I decided that there were a few things that we must have for the trip. Being that we didn't know if it was a boy or girl we went safe and stuck with green and yellow. So I picked up a 5 pack of these cute green and white receiving blankets, a set of pacifiers, a travel pack of wipes (I do realize this will not last us two weeks, but it will do till we make our first of many Wal-Mart trips.), and a cover for our diaper changing pad in the nursery. So the SW calls and says that Jane is going grocery shopping and will be back in an hour or so and we will have the conference call then. Two LONG hours pass by and the phone rings. It is Jane and our SW on the line. After some awkward introductions we begin our phone conversation. We told her if she had any questions that we are an open book so don't hesitate to ask. Her question "Are you ready?" I then explained that we had a nursery pretty much set up, a car seat, stroller, and that I was washing some gender neutral outfits and some receiving blankets so that we would be prepared. She said "Would you like to know what you are having?" We said that would be great if she wanted to share. "It's a boy." We told her congratulations. Her response "Congratulations to you." So that is how we were told that we are going to be the lucky parents of a baby boy. His name will be Patrick McKenzie. We shared this with her. She liked it so much that she said she was going to put that on the birth certificate. Tears ran down my cheek. It is finally real.

So I bet everyone would like to know when this baby boy is thinking about making his grand entrance....well she is due May 15. However, the baby is measuring around 8lbs. (And yes I know that Drs. tend to be a little off, but that still is big considering she has 4 weeks till her due date!) She said based upon her doctors that she might deliver early. So till then our cell phones are charging and are glued to our hips waiting for the call "She's in Labor!" Then I am sure we will be recreating a scene from the Amazing Race Show - "Excuse me we need the earliest flight arriving in UT!"

Please keep us, Patrick, and Jane in your prayers. We will be posting any updates here instead of sending out emails. Once in UT we will post pictures of Patrick and update you on how things are going on here as well. So bookmark this to your favorites and check back often. Also, if she doesn't go into labor before next Thursday then I will post our progress once she goes to the DR. Off to try and get some sleep ....then off to change all the yellow stuff and pink stuff on the registry to BLUE!
