He's now ours!

I'm writing you from our hotel room; Patrick is fast asleep and so is LeAnna - she's trying to nap when he does. Jane signed the adoption papers yesterday afternoon and Patrick was discharged from the hospital this morning. We fastened him into the car seat in the back of our rental car and I carefully navigated back to the hotel.

The picture to your left is from yesterday during the first time we were able to feed Patrick.

This morning we had a priest come by the hospital and give a blessing to all 4 of us (Patrick, LeAnna, myself, and Jane). It was meant to be a blessing on the transfer of Patrick from Jane to us. It went very well, and I think it gave Jane some peace of mind.

LeAnna's mom is flying in tonight to see Patrick and help us take care of him during the next several days. As soon as we get notice from our home state that we can legally bring Patrick back, we'll make our flight arrangements. We're hoping that will be by next weekend.

Thank you to everyone who has called, posted comments, and sent emails congratulating us on our newest family member. It's hard to respond or call everyone back, but we've been trying to in our spare time.
